Fall 2023 Internships

Arts-based internships are open to students at the University of Toronto through the Department of Art History. Offered as a course credit (FAH 481 H/Y1), these internships provide advanced third- and fourth-year University of Toronto students with the opportunity to work with local organizations for a semester or academic session.

We are pleased to offer a number of internship placements for the Fall 2023 term for students interested in architecture, architectural history, heritage, and more. Placements are part-time, ranging from 8-10 hours per week for 12 weeks, beginning the week of September 11 (see individual listings for any special requirements/availability).

Check out the opportunities below with:

  • 401 Richmond (Urbanspace)
  • ACO Toronto/TOBuilt
  • Giaimo
  • James Rottman Fine Art
  • National Trust for Canada
  • Simon Bentley Fine Art
  • The Society for the Study of Architecture in Canada

New for Fall 2023: While the internships completed for course credit in FAH 481 are unpaid, we are delighted to be able to offer bursaries of up to $300 to successful candidates in these listed positions to assist with cost barriers to the workplace (i.e. professional attire, transit costs, internet access for remote work, childcare, etc.). This funding is made possible by the Co-operative Education and Work-Integrated Learning Canada (CEWIL) iHub program.

Note: The CEWIL iHub bursaries are only available to Canadian citizens, permanent residents, or persons to whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act. International students with student visas or work visas can still apply to the internship of their choice, but are not eligible to receive iHub funding.

Please fill out the short bursary eligibility form provided and submit it with your application.

Interested students should send an application by August 28, 2023 to Dr Jessica Mace (jessica.mace@utoronto.ca). Applications should include 1) a letter of interest (including any relevant coursework or experience), 2) the bursary eligibility form, and 3) a resume. Please indicate to which posting(s) you are applying. If you are interested in more than one posting, you do not need to submit more than one application.
